It's my last week in pkh and i don't feel like going back anymore!!! It's amazing how time flies. The 1st 2 weeks crawled by and the last 2 weeks are zooming past. *RAAR* i remember telling joo leng before i left that scully after one month i don't want to go back and looks like it's coming true!!! I'm soooo gonna miss my students.. i think i might cry. My students said they will miss me too. Alot of them came up to me saying "cher! say that you will stay in cambodia forever!" (ahem.. see i'm a blessing to them)
Ok.. whinning aside.. this week was pretty much the usual teaching.. except that a team from temasek poly arrived on wednesday and they will be taking afternoon and night classes hence liberating me in the afternoons and nights for the next few days. Anyway.. what's really cool was that we went to aoral last sat. It's about 2 hours from pkh and it's a super bumpy road. (it's worse thatn tmt) We were bumped grumpy! We visited the mission house there to check the damage of the roof. The eaves were damaged due to heavy rain and hail.. can u believe it? hail in the middle of the dry season. Then the driver brought us to visit a deserted hot spring. It's almost finished but the building just stopped half way. I was very intrigued by the whole idea of a deserted hotspring in the middle of no where. Then he brought us to the source of the hot water. There is a natural hotspring in cambodia!! We touched the water and it really was hot. Then we got bumped all the way back to kampong speu where we had lunch at the market. Super exciting! Our first cambodian dish! It's called "banchao" or "banchai" aiyar something along those lines.. It's like a cripsy layer made of floor covering minced meat and bean sprouts. It kinda reminds me of roti john. It was super nice. We went back to pkh after lunch where we knocked out.
On sunday i stayed in pkh coz i was on weekend duty. Hannah and I had a mini movie marathon in our room where we watched high school musical and the prince of egypt. At night the students watched mulan and i couldn't stop laughing. Although i have watched it so many times i still love it.
Anyway.. fast forward to this week agn.. The broadband is up so i can use the com whenever i like!! *HUR HUR* Plus i have more free time this week. =D All the students had a mock test today in preparation for the actual exam next friday. This is my last test with them! *sob* I'm glad to say that everyone in my class passed! After class i went to kampong speu market to look around and buy fruits. Tmr's gonna be pkh games day and on sunday, me, hannah, weiyi and xiao xi are going to phnom penh.
Ages later....
Once again.. here are the pictures...
This is the mission house in Aoral. It's used for medical services for the locals. Doctor Bun rong (the resident dr of pkh) goes over there every week to treat the locals. We were saying that he's amazing coz he's kinda 'old' and yet he can endure the bumpy ride every week.
That is the guard house. The mission house has to be guarded as there's a store of medical resources there.
that is the entrance of the deserted hotspring. It's like everything was almost finished but the building was stopped.
Nice scenary =) the pipe there is the pipe connecting the natural source of hotwater to the place. The natural hotspring was beside me from where i stood but i didn't take a pic of it. =X
