The office has broadband connection for 2 days as the company is giving us a trial and this is the last night of it.. so we're making full use of it! Hannah and I were super excited and hyper bout the whole internet thing so we were jumping up and down alot and both of us can't get the smile off our faces when we're online. Anyway let me update bout sunday..
We went to Phnom Penh.. went to the crystal dome aka the cultural centre for combined ressurection sunday service and we were 30min late coz the driver drove so slowly! It's a very international congregation.. ppl frm all over the world most of which are in cambodia doing mission work. Service ended at 1030 after which we went to the Russian market. After that, we went for lunch at SamDo. (some chi restaurant something like crystal jade) Then it was grocery shopping all the way. We had this really cool ice cream that's served in a coconut. They take a coconut, pour out the juice, serve it with loveletters then the ice cream is served in the coconut. So you get to eat the ice cream with the coconut flesh.. super good! After everything.. we drove past the tonle sap river near the king's palace.. both the river and the palace were super cool! Took a pic of it but pity that i can't upload it here. We also saw Himawari Hotel.. it's owned by a singaporean called andrew tay and he's one of the major sponsors of PKH and some of the students go there to work. haha as teacher beng geok said.. we did go to paint the town red this sunday. At night we watched chronicles of narnia. Though hannah and i watched it before we still found it super good! Hannah and i were like super happy watching it.. the students clapped before the show ended.. cute bunch of ppl..

Here's my update for the week. Basically, i officially started my job as a teaching assitant. I help to supervise the class, mark their work and i also give remedial to tge weak students. So far I taught 1 official lesson. Super scary lar.. i still haven't figured out whether giving remedial or teacing the whole class is worse. But my students are really very nice. I currently have 3 remedial students.. sarath, nael and sotherath. And this week i had duty at RDP.(rural development proj) As PKH doesn't have enough hostels to accomodate all the students, they rented this house opp. the centre to house the year 2 students. I go there during dinner to make sure the students do their duty and i help cleaning the plates too. The students there are very nice.. they keep asking me to put on more weight -.- and because i eat very slowly, they slow down their eating pace and sit with me til i'm done. There are 3 adorable dogs at RDP called browny, daisy and hup hup. =)Yest. was Good Friday and it was my first Good friday not spent in church.. it kinda felt weird further more i still had work. In the evening we all watched The passion of Christ and i cried!! The good thing is.. the students were impacted by the show on what Christ has done for us. =)
Today was community service day where they clean the whole of pkh. I was supposed to supervise the students but i ended up mopping and sweeping the floor. Then they had living streams club where bible college students from Phnom penh come and conduct a 'service'for them.. something like synthesis time.
Anyway funny things that happened this week... During night class.. a lizard dropped on my foot and i screamed and jumped onto the chair. My students couldn't stop laughing at me and they kept joking about it through the whole night class! So embarrassing!!! Then we were playing guess who in class and bora stood up and said "he's a guy, he's from blah blah province and he's a gay"i was like o.0!!!! i didn't know cambodians knew how to say gay. And when i told my class to form sentences using "isn't" one of them showed me his sentence which went "he isn't a playboy"and i was like o.0!!! again.. and previously i mentioned that my students pronounce kitchen as chicken.. one of them sd.. รค studio appartment is a room with a chicken inside"
ok.. so that pretty much sums up my week.. i have to scram off the com now!

Hannah and I aren't setting up the joint blog after all.. so all updates will be on my blog! Anyway, i'm doing fine here except for the fact that i couldn't sleep on thur night and i almost fell sick on friday due to lack of sleep and crazily hot weather. It's nice here.. I have a bed, pillow, blanket, fridge, hot water and blah blah it's just that i CAN'T STAND THE SPIDERS AND LIZARDS! The spiders are tarantula like.. damn gross and damn scary.. I had an epic battle with one on fri armed with a can of insecticide and i killed it! And on sat, hannah and I had a battle with a big fat lizard hiding behind our dustpan. I'm teaching the class called Intro1 with teacher judith. So far i have only sat in but i took them for night class on friday where i supervised them and helped them with their work. I had a nice chat with my class. The students in PKH are really nice and friendly and they keep asking me why i look so sad and stone so much -.- but i'm just tired! So a few of them usually try to make me smile =)Anyway.. I miss all of you in singapore!!! I like cried through the whole take off and i kinda got dehydrated so i had to spend 3 bucks on a pathetically small bottle of mineral water. *RAAR*

ARGH I'M SO ANNOYED WITH MYSELF!!! My carelessness, clumsiness and laziness will really be my undoing.. I want to bunch all of them up and throw them out of the window. I feel so irritated and upset with myself.. i need a hug =(

SERVE 08 has ended! I can't believe it... those 2 months just flew past. Anyway it's been a really great experience and i really don't regret ever going for serve. The lessons learnt and friendships forged are just so precious. I couldn't have wanted it any other way. I just thank God for putting me in SERVE.On friday we went for night cycling.. we cycled from ecp to esplanade, played pepsi cola behind the merlion and cycled back to ecp.. surprisingly the route is quite short. But we were still super tired after the whole thing.. I collapsed on the sofa straight after getting home but had to get up an hour later to meet joo leng, beatrice and benny at harbour front. We went to under water world to relive our deprived childhoods. So effectively i went without proper sleep for more than 24 hours. I was almost dead during worship prac. Anyway i guess it was a rather good night cycling experience compared to my bro's where he got a muscle cramp in the middle of little india and had to send a distress call to my mom to bring him home.
